Hola a todos!
To change your perspective
is a typical recommendation for becoming more creative or reducing stress and anxiety. But what does it mean to change one's perspective?
From a cognitive science standpoint, it means interpreting a situation with different sets of categories. A Yoga class could go into categories such as self-care
, exercise
, waste of time
or learning
. The category I see it in, depends on things like my general attitude towards Yoga, my mood, things I have read or heard recently. By consciously looking for alternative labels, we can analyse or even change our perception and gain a wider view on any topic.
todoListo is designed to help you change your perspectives on your tasks. And I have recently expanded my perspective on how to help others improve their time management by offering webinars and with a new todoListo blog.
I have started to give webinars on time management and related topics. And I think this is a promising path to not only spread the word about todoListo, but to really make an impact and help people to stay focussed in our chaotic world. The webinars are currently not offered on any website, but if you know companies who would like to help their employees in developing good time management practices, tell them to contact me by email (consulting@todo-listo.app).
With the webinars I have also started to think about more comprehensive material in addition to the more piecemeal content on YouTube. To this end, I have started the todoListo blog with a few articles about topics that came up when preparing the webinars.
In the long run I would like to transform this into an interactive book, which can be read as a comprehensive guide to time management, or that can be used as a resource to explore tips and insights by jumping between articles, YouTube videos and online courses. You will already find links between the articles and some of the YouTube content. Let's see how the concept evolves.
If you have specific requests about content you would like to find there or topics that you think need more in-depth coverage than we have on YouTube, please drop me a line: feedback@todo-listo.app.
When we have too many things on our to-do list, a change of perspective helps to get an overview and make choices. Our recent video Change your Perspective with todoListo explains how perspectives are related to the mental activity of categorization and shows how to use todoListo for visualizing different perspectives on your tasks and your priorities. You will gain more clarity and achieve more, so that you can be proud of yourself at the end of each day.
I have recently changed my perspective on what todoListo is. I used to see it only for managing tasks. But its extensive note-taking feature, its leightweight implementation and independence of big tech companies, also makes it useful as a simple tool to take notes and share them accross different devices. In todoListo you can take different viewpoints on tasks by assigning properties: sections, categories and infos. Here is a quick reminder of how to work with properties efficiently.
On the task screen you can sort your tasks by properties. For example, if you sort by sections, the most urgent tasks will be on top.
Or you can group by any of the dimensions. So if you group by categories, you can see which tasks you are planning to do for a specific project or topic. You can also edit the properties and move them around in this view.
On the properties screen, you can see the same information, but with a stronger focus on the properties. For example, when you click on a specific info, you can switch the sidebar to show either the tasks or the notes associated with this info. You can also edit and move those tasks or change their assigned properties.
I encourage you to play with the different viewpoints provided by the properties. It is amazing how different presentations of your task list can create more clarity in your mind when facing hard decisions of what to do next (or at all, or what not to do, ...).
I hope you can find some new perspectives in these ressources.
Hasta luego!
